14/12 Shots Fired in Highway Gardens

Ernest MoagiErnest Moagi (left), a Mamba Reaction Officer, narrowly escaped death when a suspect he was trying to apprehend pulled a gun on him in Highway Gardens.  Ernest fired a shot at the suspect who tried to flee on foot but was arrested.  The Mamba Control Room was contacted to provide back-up.  The suspect was thought to have been involved in an attempted armed robbery that had taken place earlier that day where the suspect had fired shots at a resident.  An unlicensed firearm was recovered and handed to the Edenvale SAPS.

DSCN5436Andre’ Van Schoor from Mamba, as well as the Special Operations Unit, arrived on the scene and continued the search for a second suspect who was thought to still be in the area.  Information received from the community lead Jaconiah Sangweni (left) from Mamba to a house in Charmion Street, Highway Gardens where he found and arrested the suspect who had sustained a gunshot wound.  Emergency medical personnel were contacted and the suspect was transported, under police guard, to Thembisa Hospital.

Suspect Arrested for Theft outside Edenglen Restaurant

On the 21st of October a panic activation was received by Mamba‘s Control Room from a restaurant in Harris Road, Edenglen.  Piet, a Reaction Officer who works for Mamba Strike Force, was sent to investigate.  When Piet arrived on the scene the owner of the restaurant pointed out a suspect who had distracted him to create an opportunity for another two suspects to rob one of the restaurant patrons of their cell phone.

Piet detained the suspect and contacted the Edenvale Police.  The Police arrived on the scene and took the suspect into custody so that he could be questioned and also provide the SAPS with information that will hopefully help lead to the arrest of his accomplices.

Suspect Arrested after Attempted Break-in in Sebenza

On the 22nd of September Mamba Control Room received a panic activation from a premises in Sebenza.  Robert Motebejane, a Reaction Officer from Mamba, was dispatched to the scene immediately.  On arrival, the security guard who had pressed the panic reported seeing three suspects who had cut the lock on the gate of the premises nearby and were attempting to gain access to the property.

The Mamba Reaction Officer went to investigate and, as the three suspects realised they had been spotted by the security guard and Mamba, they tried to run from the scene.  Robert chased after them and managed to arrest one of the suspects.  The Police were contacted and the suspect detained at Sebenza Police Station.  Thanks to a good response time, the suspects never gained access to the property and no goods were stolen.

Having a panic button directly linked to a company like Mamba Strike Force has prevented many incidents from escalating to tragedy.  Make sure that if you are ever in a situation where you need help urgently, you have a way to alert your security company, this could save your life.

Domestic Worker Prevents Burglary

On the 19th of September, while going about her normal duties, a Domestic Worker working at a house in Croydon noticed a potential burglar jumping over the wall.  She immediately pressed her panic button so that Mamba could investigate.

A Reaction Officer, as well as the Mamba Special Operations Team responded to the scene.  The Domestic Worker pointed out the suspect to Mbuyiseli Langa from Mamba who chased after the suspect and arrested him.  The suspect was then handed over to the Police for processing.

It is very important to teach your children, Domestic Workers and anyone who is at home during the day that, if they see anything suspicious, they must not try and investigate it themselves, but rather alert their security company.  Mamba’s Reaction Officers are trained to deal with emergency situations and have the necessary back-up should a suspect be armed and dangerous.

Two Arrested for theft at Local School

Late on the 13th of September the Mamba Control Centre received an alarm activation from one of our local schools.  Reaction Officer, Mbuyiseli Langa was immediately dispatched to investigate.  On arrival Mbuyiseli noticed four suspects near the main computer centre of the school and, knowing that the Mamba Strike Force back-up was close at hand, he called on them for support.  Back-up arrived within minutes and the suspects soon realised they were heavily outnumbered so they scattered in all directions.  The Edenvale SAPS together with the Mamba Strike Force gave chase.  Mamba’s reaction officer Mbuyiseli and his supervisor, Pierre Streicher bravely pursued the suspects into the darkness.  The continuous training the operations units receive at Mamba paid off when Pierre Streicher methodically surveyed the dark terrain and found the suspect (pictured below) concealing himself under water in a stream beneath a bridge situated inside the Hurlyvale Road Closure.  The drenched suspect was detained, arrested, photographed and handed over to the Edenvale SAPS.  Another suspect was arrested by the Edenvale SAPS.  Nothing was stolen from the school’s premises.

Thanks to the great team work between Mamba and the SAPS, two criminals have now been removed from the streets.  Together with the SAPS and the community we can take our streets and homes back.

13 Illegal Immigrants Arrested

On the 8th of September a joint operation between Mamba Special Ops, Edenvale SAPS and EMPD took place in Sebenza.  Complaints had been received about vagrants sleeping in the veld and this area was targeted.

15 People were detained of which only two were able to produce a South African Identity Document.  The other 13 suspects were arrested by Mamba’s Special Ops team and were handed over to the Sebenza SAPS for processing.

Being pro-active will help assist in lowering the crime rate in this area.  Operations like this are vital to improving the safety of all who live and work here.  If you notice any suspicious activity in your area please report it to Mamba or your local police department.  Together we can make a difference.

A Twist of Fate

An interesting sequence of events led to the arrest of four suspects for armed robbery in Edenglen on Thursday the 25th of August 2011. Nothing but the power of the universe at work can explain how a series of unrelated circumstances can work together for the greater good.

Our story begins on the 18th of August when an unsecured home became the target of a robbery. After the robbery the resident's decided to link to armed response with their company of choice, Mamba Strike Force. A risk assessment of the premises was conducted and the necessary agreements completed but, due to a small typing error, the bank account number for the transfer of payment for the initial installation was delayed. The resident took the quotation with her to work on the 25th of August to contact Mamba in order to rectify the situation.

On Thursday morning at about 09:45 a lady in Sebenza decided to leave her family run business early to do some shopping. On her way, the lady made a split second decision to bypass a red robot by taking an alternative route that takes her past her friend's house that had been robbed on the 18th. As she drove past she noticed a Toyota Minibus in the driveway and contacted her friend to let her know that something strange was happening. Her friend was shocked and, thanks to the number being on the quote in front of her, immediately contacted Mamba.

Mamba Reaction Officers and Special Ops arrived on the scene within 40 seconds of receiving her call to find that her house was being robbed. Criminals normally gather all the goods they want to steal and then contact their getaway vehicle to collect the goods. A getaway vehicle is normally only at a scene of a crime for a minute or two. The driver of the minibus was arrested, the vehicle impounded and the stolen property recovered. Mamba Reaction Officers and Special Operations team then began a chase to find the other three suspects that had fled the scene.

While driving through the area looking for the escaped suspects, Mamba's Special Ops and Reaction teams were stopped by a security guard from a neighbouring complex who reported that there was a problem. The escaped suspects had forced their way into one of the townhouses, tied up a domestic worker and began gathering all the valuables on the premises. Thanks to a quick response time, another one of the suspects was arrested and the stolen goods recovered. The two remaining suspects fled the scene headed towards Illiondale. Mamba Reaction Officers and Special Ops, with support from Edenvale SAPS later arrested the remaining suspects.

As you can see, a series of seemingly insignificant coincidences led to a happy ending for all except the four suspects. With fate playing a role a number of times in helping apprehend these suspects, we can only assume that the powers of the universe were at work for the good of the victims and the community as a whole.
